American Hofmann is expanding its team with an Electrical Engineer Automation Technology (m/f/d). In this position, you will develop, load, and optimize PLC and safety control programs for Hofmann balancing machines. You will create PLC programs according to the Hofmann standard structure, adapt existing programs, and support troubleshooting and final testing of the machines.

Your tasks

• Reviewing work orders and understanding machine functions to develop or adapt robust control logic
• Interpretation of electrical schematics and technical advice to ensure complete and functional electrical circuits.
• Participation in interdisciplinary engineering teams to evaluate and select machine inputs and outputs.
• Configuration of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) controls, safety controls, drive systems, and other electrical control components
• Application of engineering principles to the analysis, development, and deployment of automated solutions for balancing machines
• Support sales in developing concepts and creating effort estimates for customer-specific PLC software integrations
• Close collaboration with electrical engineers on the specification of electrical components for control cabinet construction
• Optimization of existing or development of new standardized PLC control logics for universal balancing machines
• Support of Senior Engineers on automation projects, especially in the areas of HMI user interfaces, network design, and device configuration
• Regular reporting on project status, as well as ensuring compliance with deadlines and project specifications.
• Support for the test department and electricians in troubleshooting and repairing electrical control systems
• Remote support for service teams in analyzing and resolving control-related issues at customer sites
• Occasional travel (less than 10% of working hours) to assist with the installation and commissioning of machines at customer sites

Your qualifications

• Completed studies in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor's Degree) or a comparable field with a focus on electrical engineering, control engineering, or automation technology.
• Experience in creating, programming, and interpreting industrial PLC software, especially with Allen Bradley, Omron, or Siemens systems.
• Proficient knowledge in reading, understanding, and interpreting electrical schematics, as well as experience with AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN.

Travel activities

Your tasks

• Installation, calibration, troubleshooting, adjustment, and repair of machines, both at customer sites and during internal assembly at the plant.
• Performing diagnostic checks and preventive maintenance on industrial machinery and equipment
• Building and maintaining long-term customer relationships by identifying service needs and professionally resolving technical issues

General Job Description

The Senior Mechanical Engineer (m/f/d) takes on the most technically demanding customer projects while simultaneously supporting the professional development of junior engineers. In this leadership role, the position is responsible for the technical supervision of the entire mechanical engineering team's work and ensures that best practices and standard operating procedures (SOPs) are followed. The position reports directly to the Director of Engineering and may be entrusted with the planning, coordination, and assignment of projects within the mechanical engineering team.

The Engineering Department of American Hofmann Corporation is a small, versatile, and interdisciplinary team that works collaboratively on industrial balancing projects. The position requires close cooperation within the engineering department, as well as regular communication with the sales, production, testing, and service departments. The Lead Engineer must effectively communicate and coordinate technical information and requirements between these departments.

Your tasks

• Construction of industrial balancing machines, devices, and associated equipment, taking into account industry regulations, international standards, and customer-specific requirements
• Development of construction models, assemblies, and detail drawings in Solid Edge
• Creating precise Bills of Materials (BOMs) in the Industrios ERP System
• Meticulous documentation of all work, adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and performance of necessary design and development-related calculations.
• Prevention of errors and initiation of suitable corrective actions to comply with the requirements of the ISO 9001 quality management system
• Conducting internal and external design reviews and technical consultations with clients.

Your qualifications
