High-speed balancing systems
Precise technology for balancing flexible rotors in the high-speed range
Steam and gas turbines, turbo generators and turbo compressors are machines that have rotors that often run supercritically and, as flexible rotors, need to be balanced at high speed. The high-speed balancing and centrifugal systems of type HS from Hofmann meet all requirements for the precise balancing of flexible rotors in several planes and at different speeds.
Flexible machine concepts, for example for drive systems and safety structures, enable Hofmann to customize each high-speed balancing and centrifugal system to meet individual project requirements. Thanks to these turn-key solutions, customers can rely on high-precision, customized systems for demanding high-speed applications.

Precision for high-speed rotors
High-speed technology for rotors in turbo generators, wind turbines and industrial plants
With the high rigidity and high sensitivity of HOFMANN bearing pedestals, the vibrations of turbomachinery rotors can be reliably and accurately determined at high and low speeds.
Large mounting diameters of the HOFMANN bearing pedestals allow the use of modern tilting pad bearings and a high oil throughput, so that it is possible to react flexibly to balancing requirements.
In addition to precise balancing, rotors from turbomachinery - such as those used in power plants, wind turbines or large industrial plants - are subjected to additional special tests to ensure maximum operational safety and efficiency. These tests provide detailed information about the electrical properties of the system and enable the early detection of winding faults or irregularities. Unplanned downtimes can thus be avoided and costly failures reduced.

Measuring system for low- and high-speed balancing of elastic rotors
Type Quasar 2
Quasar 2 is a state-of-the-art measuring system for the economical and precise balancing of elastic rotors. It combines low-speed and high-speed balancing in one system and thus enables flexible, efficient rotor machining. The unbalance can already be distributed to several levels in the rigid state, which reduces modal unbalance and minimizes the effort involved.
The system works with standard measuring hardware, records unbalance as well as process values such as pressure and temperature and displays them clearly. The software supports offline operation, data import from other systems and extensive analysis and logging functions. An optional training module simulates rotor behavior so that operators can learn how to use the system without risk.
Quasar 2 is suitable for high-speed balancing systems from Hofmann and for retrofitting existing systems. It is ideal for rotors from turbomachinery and high-speed rotors, saves time, reduces errors and delivers precise, reproducible results.
Special features
- One software for low- and high-speed balancing
- Balancing modal and with influence coefficients
- Recording of vibrations and process values
