Balancing machines for rail vehicles
Customized as pure unbalance measuring machines or combined with an integrated milling machine
Hofmann balancing machines for rail vehicles are designed to meet the exact individual requirements of our customers. They can be operated as pure unbalance measuring machines, which offer maximum precision in the detection and analysis of unbalances, as well as in combination with a specially developed milling machine, which enables correction directly on site.
Thanks to state-of-the-art measurement technology and flexible software solutions, a wide variety of components such as wheelsets, drive shafts and axles can be reliably and reproducibly balanced. The machines impress with high process reliability, ease of operation and a robust design that can withstand the high demands of rail traffic. Expansion options, such as for the automation of measuring and balancing processes, ensure even more efficient integration into existing production or maintenance processes.

Safety on every track
Precise balancing of wheels, brake disks and sprockets
Hofmann's vertical balancing machines are specially designed for the high-precision balancing of individual components such as railroad wheels, brake disks or gear rims. The supercritical "soft" oscillator concept effectively filters out interference from floor vibrations, nearby presses or other processing machines. This not only eliminates the need for complex and costly special foundations, but also allows greater freedom in the choice of machine location.
In addition, the machines can be individually adapted to customer requirements. They can either be operated purely as unbalance measuring machines or in combination with a specially developed milling machine so that unbalance correction can be carried out directly on site. Flexible protection concepts and ergonomic operating options significantly increase safety and user-friendliness. The overall system guarantees consistently high precision even under demanding production conditions and reduces the influence of environmental factors on the measurement result to a minimum.

1-level measuring and balancing machine for railroad wheels
1-plane measuring and balancing machine for railroad sprockets
2-plane measuring machine for railroad wheelsets
1-plane measuring and balancing machine for railroad brake disks
Type BVW32
The BVW32 is a versatile single-plane measuring and balancing machine for railroad brake disks, which can be used both as a pure unbalance measuring machine and as a combined solution with integrated unbalance correction. In the combined version, the workpiece is turned to the calculated correction angle after the unbalance has been precisely determined. Thanks to a specially developed chuck, the unbalance can be corrected immediately by radial milling. Loading is flexible: manually by crane or fully automatically by robot or loading gantry.
The machine impresses with its compact, robust design and high flexibility. It is designed for workpieces with external diameters of 300 to 1,200 mm and offers maximum ease of changeover for different types of brake discs. State-of-the-art torque technology, central media supply and optimum access for loading and unloading ensure efficient processes. The basic equipment includes a Siemens PLC; CAQ and master computer connection as well as remote maintenance are available as options

1-level measuring and balancing machine for railroad wheels
Type BVW13
The BVW13 is a powerful single-level measuring and balancing machine for railroad wheels. It can be used both as a pure unbalance measuring machine, in which the unbalance is removed via a separate processing station, and as a combined solution, in which measurement and correction take place in one station. In the combined version, the wheel is turned to the calculated correction angle after precise unbalance measurement. The correction is then carried out using a specially developed chuck.
The machine can be loaded flexibly, either manually by crane or automatically with a robot or loading gantry. The machine concept is designed for maximum efficiency, precision and ergonomics and meets the highest requirements for series production and safety.

2-plane measuring machine for railroad wheelsets
Type H-24
The H-24 is a powerful 2-plane measuring machine, specially developed for the precise determination of the unbalance of railroad wheelsets. It enables precise measurement in two planes and can be operated with belt drive or cardan shaft drive, depending on customer requirements. This allows different workpiece geometries and production requirements to be optimally mapped.
For external unbalance correction, the calculated correction parameters such as the milling track per correction plane can be transferred directly to the processing machine via a defined interface. This enables seamless integration into existing production processes. Loading is flexible, either manually by crane or fully automatically by robot or loading gantry.
